Seasons

ponderings of a wandering soul as he journeys through life..

Category: Uncategorized

To: My Brother

Our journey has been a tumultuous one. I don’t even know where to begin, nor how to say it. I suppose that’s a sign that you’ve become one of those indispensable people whose value can’t be measured.

When we were younger, I couldn’t stand you. In fact at one point, I referred to you as “the devil” when talking to my friends. You know where exactly my buttons were, and didn’t hesitate to poke at them for no other sake than to irk me. Nowadays, though, things seem… better =).

I don’t mind spending time with you. In fact our hang outs even turn out to be fun. Not for the activities that we do, for we don’t do anything, but because of your… ridiculousness. It’s really refreshing, truly. Laughter’s the best medicine, and if such were true, you would be one of the best doctors, knowing their patients in and out.

Let’s not bore the readers with details. Simply, happy birthday. I’m genuinely glad you seem to be having fun, and moreover, I rest contented knowing that you have friends who really seem to care for you. For the first time in my life, I’m confident to say to the world that I’m glad to have you as my brother. May this day be special. May you find peace in your life, and your own kind of happiness.

Might I Make A Suggestion?

First, read two of Ken Follett’s books: “The Pillars of the Earth” and “World Without End”. His prose is clean and direct, but it gets the job done. Both books are pretty hefty, but at no point will you be bored. That’s exactly what I want with my books. They need to be long enough for me to relish their environment, be absorbed with their story and their characters. I’ve read many great short novels, but there’s nothing I appreciate more than knowing that after a long day’s work, I can go home and be at peace, engrossed in a novel for days and days and days.

The first you should read is Pillars, followed by World, which is set in the Kingsbridge two centuries after the Pillars of the Earth tale. Notice I how I didn’t really talk about anything in the books, except that they’re good? That’s right! Because you have to read them!

It was pretty good..

It was pretty good..

Next suggestion. Sunday night after church, my friend had wanted to get gelati, and so we headed to a gelati parlour. We got side-tracked, though, and decided that we want “food food”. We walked around, and noticed this Japanese restaurant with a really quaint, pretty patio space. It was a bit secluded, which made it even more appealing. To make a long story short, the food wasn’t bad in any way (which is really as good as it gets when it comes to my critiques of restaurants and their food), and I wouldn’t mind bringing my boss there, say. I don’t want to mention the name of the restaurant, because I don’t want to give them free advertisement! Instead, examine the two photos, and then maybe you can find the restaurant yourself. Cool?

Pretty lamp.

Pretty lamp.

Okay, go get the books and read them. You won’t be disappointed!

Why Seasons?

Hello!

First off, let me introduce myself. My name is Christian Martinez, and I live in Winnipeg, Canada. Suffice it to say that my life is very “dynamic”, which means I probably shouldn’t even attempt to be an active blogger!

Let me tell you, though, why I’d like to have a blog. First, I have many things to say about pretty much everything, and for those who might be interested, I’d like them to be accessible for reviewing. Second, I’ve always looked for an outlet that I can dump my thoughts in. We’ve all had bouts of brain overactivity, and don’t we always say, “I wish I could just sort things out in my head!” Well, it just so happens that writing is a good way to do this, hence this blog!

So, these are the things you might find in here: First, if I had a random thought in my head, chances are I’d probably put them here. This ranges from a cool thing I happen to see while driving, to an outrageous thing some politician says on the tv. Second, if there’s something more profound that I’d like to express and publish, you’d find it here too. Emo things, if you will. Lastly, this will be my personal editorial section. My permanent, on going opinion piece, which is self-explanatory.

What you won’t find in this blog is me mentioning any names with the intention of launching any sort of personal attacks. That’s too petty, and besides, those things could easily get tiring.

and so…

Why “Seasons”?

Life has an ongoing, cyclical emotional pattern that is comparable to the seasons we experience in this planet. Basically, if I keep up with the blogging, we would, together, witness the seasons in my life. Sometimes we’re up, experiencing a nice summer day, and sometimes down as in a harsh winter night. This we will probably see right before our eyes!

Stay with me! Visit often! I look forward to a vibrant WordPress community with all of you!
